Homemade German Chocolate Cake Icing

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 (14 oz) bag coconut
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (5 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Icing:
    • In a saucepan, melt the stick of butter.
  2. Combine Ingredients:
    • Add the coconut, egg yolks, sugar, and both cans of evaporated milk (12 oz and 5 oz) to the melted butter.
  3. Cook Over Low Heat:
    • Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens. This will result in a luscious and creamy consistency.
  4. Incorporate Pecans:
    • Remove the mixture from heat and stir in the chopped pecans. The warmth of the icing will infuse the pecans with delightful flavors.
  5. Spread on Cake:
    • While the icing is still warm, generously spread it over your freshly baked German Chocolate Cake.
