Homemade Fudge Frosting
Our family's beloved fudge frosting is a treat that never disappoints. This recipe can be easily adjusted for larger batches, and we often double it for those extra-special occasions.
Ingredients:
- 1 square (1 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (homemade vanilla extract works beautifully)
Directions:
- In a saucepan, combine all the ingredients.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, maintaining constant stirring until it comes to a boil.
- Allow it to gently boil for 3 minutes (or 3 1/2 minutes for a thicker fudge consistency).
- Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- To expedite the cooling process, place the saucepan in the sink with 2 or 3 inches of cold water.
- Stir in the homemade vanilla extract.
- Beat the frosting until it reaches a thick, spreadable consistency.
- You'll notice the frosting transform from smooth to slightly grainy, indicating that it's ready to be used.
- Spread the frosting generously over your favorite dessert, and savor every bite!
Enjoy this delightful homemade fudge frosting that our family cherishes!
