Budget-Friendly and Nostalgic Tuna Casserole

Back in the 70s, we used to make a casserole that was fast, cheap, and easy - a favorite among everyone. It was called TUNA CASSEROLE, a dish that our soap opera characters often mentioned. Ah, the sweet, sweet days! ❤️

Here's how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • Boiled/drained Egg noodles (about 2 cups at most)
  • Condensed mushroom soup
  • Small can mushroom pieces
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • 2 drained cans of tuna
  • About 1/2 cup of shredded cheese
  • About 1/2 cup of crumbled potato chips
  • 1 Frozen (thawed) or 1 canned green peas
  • About 1/2 chopped grilled onion

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the boiled/drained egg noodles, condensed mushroom soup, small can mushroom pieces, milk, drained cans of tuna, shredded cheese, crumbled potato chips, frozen or canned green peas, and chopped grilled onion. Mix everything together until well combined.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Top with an additional layer of shredded cheese, followed by a layer of crumbled potato chips.
  5. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven until it becomes bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden, approximately 30 minutes.

Note: If you have dietary restrictions, you can omit the noodles and potato chips while still enjoying the flavors of this delightful dish.
