All-Purpose Dough
It doesn't take long to put together. The more you make it the easier it becomes!
(Great for yeast rolls, pizza dough, bread and Cinnamon rolls.)
Ingredients:
- 3 1/4 cups of All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup of milk (room temperature)
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons of Instant or Fast-Acting Yeast
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of butter (room temperature)
Directions:
- Sift flour and salt into a large bowl, set aside. (I always sift! 😊)
- In a large bowl, mix well the milk, egg, yeast, and sugar.
- Slowly add flour until it forms a dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Add and mix butter into the dough well (by hand is easier).
- Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic feeling. (You'll know the dough is ready when you can pull and stretch it without tearing.)
- Place the dough into an oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise until it doubles in size, about an hour.
- Punch the dough down to release the air.
- Cut the dough in half, then cut those halves in half, and repeat until you have 16 pieces.
- Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place in a lightly greased pan.
- Cover and let it rise for about 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350° for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush the tops with melted butter.
- Enjoy!
